The little comic booklets known as "Chick Tracts" were originally designed and printed by Jack Chick, a Christian cartoonist. They remain immensely popular for personal evangelism, but they often suffer from one major issue: the gospel presentation isn't always clear.
For example, the classic invitation at the end of many tracts instructs the reader to "Be willing to turn from sin (repent)." If that simply means turning from the sin of unbelief to trust in Christ alone by faith, that's great. However, if it implies that a person must be willing to reform their lifestyle or stop sinning in order to earn or "prove" salvation, it becomes a works-based gospel—which explicitly contradicts Scripture: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Eph. 2:8-9).
To solve this problem, I designed "The Clear Gospel Sticker." By placing this sticker directly over the unclear gospel invitation on the back page of Chick tracts, I can retrofit these iconic vintage comics with a crystal-clear message of free grace! This way, I can still use Chick tracts to the glory of God (1 Cor. 10:31) without compromising the simplicity of the Good News.
