Amēn | Greek Mnemonics

Bill Mounce’s Basics of Biblical Greek Vocabulary Cards (2nd Edition):

2. amēn (ἀμήν): verily, truly, amen, so let it be

Mnemonics / Memory Aids:

A.) The English word “amen” is basically a transliteration of the Greek word; so spell out the Greek word with the corresponding English letters. The English word also sounds very similar to its Greek counterpart.

B.) A main truth of Scripture is affirmed by saying “Amen!”

C.) A main-tenance worker said “Amen!”

D.) A man saying “Truly, Verily, Amen!”

E.) “Truly”, I say Amen at the end of a prayer. “So be it”. (Danny Zacharias, FlashGreek Lite)
